Police Officer Needs Surgery After Becoming Addicted to Eating Knives

There's a disorder called pica where people develop an addiction to eating something that you aren't supposed to eat. It's almost always dangerous, but not quite this dangerous.

A 42-year-old police officer in Gurdaspur, India was having stomach pains and went to the hospital earlier this month. When doctors did an ultrasound they saw a huge mass in his stomach, they figured it was cancer.

That's when the guy realized it might be a good time to tell them about his recent habit of eating knives. Yeah, for the past two months he's had an uncontrollable urge to swallow small knives, and they've just been gathering in his stomach.

He had a five-hour surgery where the doctors were able to remove all forty of the knives he'd swallowed from his stomach. Believe it or not, he's actually doing okay and is going to be discharged soon.
