This week on Our Best Bites, we're headed over to Moline to find another place serving up some great food in the Quad Cities, and we landed at Fifth Avenue Syndicate.

Fifth Avenue Syndicate is located at (you guessed it, Fifth Avenue) 1630 5th Avenue, Moline in the base of the Axis Hotel.

Up first for us was the appetizer, steamed mussels, prepared in a white wine cream sauce, and served with crostini.

Then came one of our main courses, a French classic called bouillabaisse. Chef Brandon brought together shrimp, scallops, crab, whitefish, and mussels in a rich broth. Almost like a a hearty stew or soup, but with a variety of flavors.

Another entrée was a special treat from Chef Brandon, which he calls Steak Diane. Two perfectly grilled beef tenderloins with a wild mushroom bourbon sauce, served over fingerling potatoes and brussels sprouts.

Finally for dessert is a dish that photos don't do justice for. The Apple Tart, made with puff pastry, apples cooked in a caramel sauce, served with cinnamon ice cream and topped with caramel sauce and powdered sugar.

Fifth Avenue Syndicate is a must try local, modern dining experience and that's why it's one of Our Best Bites.

Craft Breweries in the Quad Cities Area

We're very lucky to live in an area with such an amazing, thriving "craft beer scene". You'll be able to find everything you could want.

Not sure what you want? That's ok. The bartenders at these establishments are very well versed and can guide you through a wonderland of Ales and Lagers.

From "coffee infused" to "riff infused".

From "pale ales" to "peanut butter porters".

Fruity, Sour, Hoppy, Malty, Crisp, Crushable beers in all shapes and sizes.

Crowlers, Growlers, Cans & Kegs...the Quad Cities Craft Beer scene has it all.

And of course...a great beer isn't complete unless it's paired with some amazing food. Whether it's made in the breweries kitchen or in the food truck in the parking lot...brewers know that people love food with their beer.
