On this date (give or take a day) the Single of "Life's Been Good" from Joe Walsh's "But Seriously Folks" album was released in 1978.  It's a humorous masterpiece about rock excess, but most simply, the song defines what a "classic rock song" is.  For 36 years now, admit it, you've been chuckling to the lyrics of this song...it was "genius" then, and it's "genius" now.  The song is so timeless that it still gets significant airplay today on classic rock stations, like 97X.  It's an 8-minute song, but I bet you can sing along to almost, if not all, of the words!  Next time you're in a group setting, see if your friends can finish the line .. "My Maserati does 185..."  or...  "I go to parties sometimes until 4..." that'll tell 'ya.  It could have even been put to a vote on becoming the new National Anthem, had Joe Walsh been successful in his Presidential campaign in 1980.  Well, that's just Joe being Joe.  But it's no joke that today, we got a great song for life, and you should be thankful, even if you never wrote him a letter to tell him he's great...
