Tihisha Jones, a 49-year-old single mother, was getting ready to take her son to school the other day when some punk tried to steal her car.

The Bronx woman had used her remote start to warm up her 2005 Honda Pilot that was parked outside her apartment. As Tihisha and her son went to get in, she noticed that somebody was already in the driver's seat.

19-year-old Bernado Santiago was fiddling around with the vehicle, trying to get it to move. Tihisha opened the passenger's side door and he closed it on her. So she walked around and yanked him out of the driver's side door.

The mother threw him to the ground and held him until the police arrived.

"I had to take matters into my own hands because I work, I saved to get that car myself," she said to KMBC. "I'm a single parent, I saved to get that, I saved."

Cops noted that Santiago appeared to be intoxicated and was trying to convince them that Tihisha's vehicle was his Uber. He was charged with attempted grand larceny, petit larceny and criminal stolen possession of stolen property.
