If you missed the story last week, my dad called late at night wanting to know how to make that "find your phone" 'program' work.  After being lead around the yard and mistaking a goose for the sonar ping, my dad fessed up and admitted to possibly roto-tilling his phone into the dirt in the garden.  Here's where the app indicated the phone should be:

The battery on the phone had gone dead and would no longer ping, so he tracked down a guy with a metal detector and searched the area above. Sure enough…his hunch was right! The phone fell out of his pocket while he was driving his tractor and got run through the spinning blades of the root-tiller.

They found it buried under almost a foot of dirt less than 5 feet from where the app indicated it would be. The cover is pretty scratched up and the back case is cut, but…it works!
