Mediocre Kidnapper Is Foiled by a Stick Shift and a Trunk Latch

27-year-old Demetric Nelson of Columbia, South Carolina busted into a 57-year-old woman's house early Tuesday morning, demanded some cash and forced her to get into the trunk of her car.

Then he tried to drive off, and was foiled in two different ways. One, he had no idea how to drive a stick shift. Two, he didn't realize the trunk had an emergency latch inside, so the woman could just let herself out.

While he was struggling with the transmission, he didn't notice she was flagging down a cop. Demetric was arrested for kidnapping, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
