When some people participate in medieval reenactions, they really get into the Renaissance-era mindset. So when one Russian festival participant noticed a drone flying overhead, he reacted as you'd expect.

"The lance was not a fighting weapon, it had a softened tip," said a festival organizer. "Therefore the quadcopter was not destroyed, it just dropped to the ground." Drone owner Gennady Tolcheev was given permission to film the event and the spear-thrower has apologized and offered to pay for repairs.

Tolcheev says that he has been in talks with organizers about making drone spearing an official event in future festivals.
