Stephen Ruth first caught my eye last summer when he was first arrested for tampering with a red light camera. He had gone so far as to post a "how to" video on his Facebook. Well, Stephen was just arrested again.

The 42-year-old allegedly took 19 cameras out of commission over the weekend in Brookhaven, New York and caused $25,000 in estimated damages. Ruth is accused of snipping wires, repositioning cameras to aim at the sky, and cutting down a pole that a red light camera was mounted on.

Suffolk County Police caught up to Ruth at his home. His son says, "He escaped them but when they came to the house he honorably turned himself in because he isn’t doing anything wrong. He was just trying to help people and save lives."

Ruth is being charged with felony criminal mischief and faces up to seven years in prison if he's convicted.

"All it took was a pair of balls and a painter’s extension rod."
