On this date in 1983, David Bowie's "Let's Dance" went to the top of the Billboard Top 100 chart.  Normally, I wouldn't find that much of a story, BUT, there are 3 reasons why I'm mentioning it today.  First, the Bowie song knocked Michael Jackson out of #1  ("Beat It")  during a time when you couldn't go anywhere and not hear or read about Michael Jackson.  We rockers were not "thrilled"... it was vexing overkill.  Second, the picture kills me...Third, the song allowed Stevie Ray Vaughan to claim a #1 hit since he played guitar on that track.  The story goes, David wanted Stevie to join his band on the "Serious Moonlight" tour, but when Stevie asked if some of HIS material could be incorporated in to the shows, David said "No", and so then did Stevie.  Earl Slick ended up with the job.  So today, I salute you David Bowie fans AND you Stevie Ray Vaughan fans!
