An 11-year-old boy in Sandwich, Illinois learned that the triple dog dare scene in "A Christmas Story" wasn't just movie magic. Your tongue actually will stick to a frozen pole.

Spencer Cline was sledding with his friend last week when they found a metal fence pole. In "A Christmas Story", a boy is dared to lick a frozen pole and his tongue sticks to it. Nobody dared Spencer, he just wanted to try it out.

"I was just tempted to. I've seen the movie 'A Christmas Story,' which kind of inspired me," Spencer told the Chicago Tribune. To his surprise, his tongue actually froze to the metal.

"Cole thought at first I was messing with him," Spencer said. "I told him no, it’s really stuck, but he at first couldn’t understand what I was saying."

His friend then ran to the nearest house to ask for some hot water. The woman who answered told Cole that she didn't have any. He told her to call an ambulance.

By the time an EMS crew showed up, Spencer had pulled his tongue free. The rescue members all remembered the movie scene and laughed it off.
