Brittany Fintel is lucky to be alive after falling somewhere around 300 to 500 feet down the side of Mount St. Helens. Luckily other hikers witnessed her accident and she could be rescued.

The 32-year-old Navy veteran had planned to hike around the volcano before she slipped on some ice that morning. After losing her footing, Brittany collided with a boulder and slid down the mountainside until eventually stopping.

Her service dog Indy was quickly by her side to comfort her and make sure she stayed calm until a search and rescue team arrived. The U.S. Coast Guard were able to fly Brittany out three hours later.

She ended up with a broken hip, a concussion, and lacerations all over.
