Chicago-Born Bass Guitarist Michael Anthony was born today 60 years ago, and I'll bet in 10 MORE years, he still won't seem 60.  Known for having more bass guitars in his possession than almost anybody, including his own signature Yamaha series bass.  He was the one of the best "backing/harmonic" vocalists you could get, elevating David Lee Roth's vocals to "pretty good", and Sammy Hagar to "awesome" !  And next to Sammy, I found Michael to be the coolest member of the band, and definitely the easiest to talk to.  He ultimately wasn't treated very well by David Lee, Alex and Eddie and his dismissal from the band was not be-fitting, but it was sure nice to hear such a great reception for Sammy and him (the only 2 to show up) at VH's induction ceremony for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.  Not ironic, because without Michael Anthony, Van Halen probably would not have been a HOF caliber band.  So today...bass fans, Jack Daniels fans, and Michael Anthony fans ... I salute you!
