Today is Rick Derringer's Birthday .. he's 67 today, seen with his wife here in the picture.  Born Ricky Dean Zehringer in a tiny railroad town located in the middle of nowhere on the IN/OH border .. he made it pretty big as a lightning fast guitarist and later as a producer.  His first major band the McCoys had that hit "Hang on Sloopy" which featured a screaming guitar solo from Rick that stuck out like a sore thumb...but was still pretty cool...and it got him the invitation to play on albums by Alice Cooper, Todd Rundgren, Edgar and Johnny Winter, Weird Al Yankovic ... and tours with Zeppelin, The Stones, and Ringo Starr.   Yup, he did pretty well.  He still tours today, and in fact if you were in the Nova Scotia or Toronto area you could catch him this week.  So on this day, to all fans of a real " All American Boy"...  I raise a glass and toast you!
