Florida Woman Uninjured After Life Raft Crashes Through Ceiling

A woman in Miami was lucky to walk away with only minor injuries on Wednesday, after an uninflated, 80-pound life raft fell out of the sky and crashed through her roof.

Luce Rameau was talking on her cellphone while lying in bed when she heard a noise that sounded like a bomb. “I kept screaming, ‘What happened? What happened?”’ she said. “I was shocked.”

Laying in her room covered in dust and debris was an 80-pound inflatable raft. Turns out it fell off a Canadian military helicopter that was in Florida for training exercises.

The Air Force is investigating how the raft became separated from the helicopter and plan on helping Luce with accommodations and other support.
