James' mother says, "He’s a prankster. He does stuff like this because he thinks it’s funny." She told WPTV that this was all a prank aimed at a friend who works at Wendy's.

Joshua is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, illegally killing, possessing or capturing an alligator, and second-degree larceny petit theft. The gator was released into a nearby canal.
