Look out Quad Cities there's a new restaurant that's going to take the QCA by storm, and it's called The Pita Pit. The only thing I know about pitas I learned watching 'The Simpsons,' but my wife and daughters are experts.

They've gone to the one in Iowa City several times and love it. It wasn't a surprise that as soon as a sign was placed on the corner of 53rd and 18th in Bettendorf saying "Coming Soon: The Pita Pit," I knew it wouldn't be long before I would have to try it.

I stopped over yesterday to see if they were open. I figured maybe I'd surprise my family with dinner. Sadly they weren't open, but they were hard at work getting the place ready for their May 2nd opening.

Not knowing a lot about their operation, Chris Wenzel and Chad (Danger is my middle name) Delp were happy to give me the rundown. They've been looking to open a restaurant here in the Quad Cities for quite some time, and these boys are fans of food. They opted to bring something to the QCA that we don't already have. They bought the franchise and are opening their first location with another three expecting to open in the next couple of years.

Here's how it works. You start with the pita bread, either white or wheat. Then you pick your meat and they cook it fresh for you. Then you choose any of their fresh toppings, and pick from one of the 16 sauces they keep on hand. My mouth is watering already. I also found out that they make breakfast pitas all day long.

They have Vitamix Blenders for making the freshest smoothies, but if that's not your thing they have the newest Coca~Cola Freestyle machine. As anyone who listens to the show knows, I love these machines. They have over 100 different kind of drink choices. Yesterday, they let me try it out. I had an orange Sprite. It was amazing.

Overall, I'm going to say that this place is going to go over quite well here in the QCA. They open on Monday, May 2nd at 10 AM and close at 10 PM. Oh yeah, and they deliver too. Their delivery will start out covering a small area and later expanding. In the meantime, they're still looking for employees, so if you know someone that wants to apply they can contact Chad at chaddelp@yahoo.com.
