The parents of a 10-year-old kid in North Carolina are upset after he was suspended for repeatedly calling his teacher "ma'am."

The fifth grader had to write "ma'am" over and over on a sheet of paper after calling his teacher the word despite being told not to. His mother is worried that the punishment interfered with his schoolwork since he had to do the writing during class.

The teacher allegedly told the student, "if she had something, she would have thrown it at him."

The parents met with the teacher and school's principal to discuss the incident. The teacher claimed to have not been serious and believe the student was aware of that. The student was moved to different classroom.
