Clown Costume Sales Surge After Creepy Clown Headlines

You can't scroll through your newsfeed without running into a story about some creepy clown sighting sooner or later. Thanks to those headlines, you're gonna start seeing a whole bunch more clowns running around.

Halloween sales are going to reach an estimated $7 billion this year and a large percentage of that is coming from clown costumes.

“Clown mask sales are up more than [300%] from a year ago the same period online," said Brad Butler of Halloween Express. “In the top 10, eight of them are ‘evil’ clown masks this season whereas last year, five of the top 10 were ‘evil.’”

While these clown sightings are down right creepy as Hell, they're not illegal. Defense attorney Pete Schulte says, “[The costumes] aren’t illegal. Even what they’re doing with the costumes is not against the law. Creepy, yes. Illegal, no.”

Be prepared to see a lot more clowns in your life this Halloween season.
