As the Quad Cities gears up for measurable snow this weekend, cities in the area are taking steps to make sure they can clear the streets and keep the region moving. Here's what we know:

  • The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Quad Cities until 6PM CT Saturday. Area's South of the Quad Cities are under a Winter Storm Warning. As of 5PM on Friday night Local 4 Meteorologist Zane Satre says the storm track has shifted and the Quad Cities can expect heavier snow. At this point he's thinking three to five inches.   • The City of Davenport has enacted a Snow Emergency from 10PM CT tonight through 10PM CT tomorrow. Parking is prohibited on snow routes. Cars left on snow routes are subject to ticketing and towing.
  • The City of Rock Island has enacted a Snow Emergency effective at 11PM CT tonight. Once snow has accumulated two inches, no parking on snow routes until the snow has stopped and the road has been cleared. Violators are subject to a $35 ticket. Vehicles that remain in violation are subject to impound. The City asks that residents not park on residential streets until snow removal is complete.
  • The City of Eldridge has declared a Snow Emergency from 10PM CT tonight through 10PM CT tomorrow. No parking on City streets, and the City will provide Snow Emergency parking for residents.

According to KWQC Galesburg and Carbon Cliff have also declared snow emergencies. For information on how your municipality deals with snow clearing and removal it's best to check your municipality's website or Facebook page.
