The average American salary is $55,000-a-year and a new study found that if you make that much, the Midwest is the best place to live. Of course, we all already knew that.

According to the study, the cities they listed offer up long-term financial stability. That means households can continue to work and save money.

Two Iowa cities made their top 25 list: Des Moines came in at 13th and Cedar Rapids ranked at 7th.

The study based their rankings on:

  • Median household income
  • Entertainment establishments
  • Civic establishments
  • Quality of healthcare
  • Average commute time
  • Housing costs
  • Unemployment rate
  • Poverty rate
