Castaway India Pale Ale; Around The World In 50 Beers
There's nothing not to like about this spicy little pale ale from the big island of Hawaii.
Just the facts:
Bottle temp at opening: 38 degrees.
Drinking temp: 38 degrees
Nose: Dandelions, prairie on a summer day.
Taste: Full flavor. Powerful hops, and a hint of sweet fruit.
Rating: 5 bottles out of 6
It's a big, bold hoppy explosion that smooths out across the tongue, leaving just enough citrus aftertaste to make you want a little more. The nose takes me back to a field I used to play in as a kid: a mixture of milkweed, dandelion and a hint of skunk.
I swear you can hear the singing crickets as you sit on a front porch swing sipping this mini-masterpiece. Might also be just as at-home in front of a fireplace. I intend to find out with a few more of these come winter. This is a keeper!
