Clear your calendars, people. Or at least drop whatever you're doing on October 11. Because you're going to need the entire day to enjoy over 25 different beers we'll have available at the first-ever Oktobeerfest here in Quad Cities.

The beer selection is out of this world, including seasonals and German-style beers from the best local breweries (including Bent River, of Moline, and their excellent Uncommon Stout) to out-of-towners like the legendary Summit Brewing Co. and their incomparable Oktoberfest beer. (Check out our full brewery list here.) Bier Stube, Quad Cities' own German food mecca, will be providing authentic grub. You're bound to leave with a full belly and a happy heart.

It's going to be a full day, starting out, like any decent autumn Saturday, with Hawkeyes football. We'll show the second half of the game on a giant projector – starting at 1 PM – provided by our friends at Galaxy One; you can sit at one of the high-top tables we'll have set up and enjoy watching the Hawkeyes beat the snot out of the Indiana Hooisers.

Then, Singin' & Swingin', a fantastic Midwest combo, will wow us with their German-heritage polka music. Oompah oompah!

And for our third act, The Candymakers will be performing a furious, energetic set of live blues. These dudes can wail.
