Over 100,000 students have submitted their designs to the Doodle4Google contest. Of the 53 state winners in 5 different age categories, Bettendorf's own Shalini Chandupatla is the Iowa Finalist.

The second grader from Hopewell Elementary School doodle features reading, music, art, and outdoor activities which goes right along with the 2016 theme: "What makes me... me."

Shalini had this to say about her doodle, "I love reading books. I feel music is fantastic. It is so much fun to play with my little sister. I would like to be a good writer and an excellent artist. Helping nature and helping others really makes me 'ME'."

Just for being the state finalist, Shalini will win an Android tablet and a t-shirt printed with her doodle on it. Should she win the whole thing, she'll get a $30,000 college scholarship, a $50,000 Google for Education grant for her school, a trip to the Google Headquarters in California to meet the Google Doodlers, and the opportunity to nominate a teacher to come on the trip, and a Chromebook in addition to the tablet and t-shirt.

You can vote for Shalini's design at Doodle4Google.
