Who Fans .. Adjust Your Expectations
Saturday night I had the pleasure of seeing The Who in Detroit. It was the first re-scheduled show they did after Roger Daltrey's meningitis last fall forced the band to cancel several dates on their tour. I was not expecting this show to be one of their best, given the age factor and given Roger's potentially compromised stamina...
Had To Be A Tough Dude..
So today's Happy Birthday wish goes out to the lead vocalist from the Hard-Core Rock Band "The Used", Bert McCracken. He is 34 today, and both he and his band hail from the angry, plight-laden state of Utah. But this guy may be one of the toughest guys in the business, because he had to fight all the time to defend the honor of his younger brother "Phil"...
Happy Birthday To George, and George
Two famous musicians named George were born on this day. First was George Harrison, who needs no introduction, in 1943. He would have been just 73 today. Second was George Thorogood, who also needs very little or no introduction, he turns 66 today...
I Hope Styx Wins!
3 years ago today, Styx filed a lawsuit in California against their record label A&M Records, alleging they have been cheated out of royalty payments. The primary focus here is on digital downloading and even ringtones. Styx is not the first band to contend this and they won't be the last. ...
Where Did Ozzy Pee?
Today is the anniversary of the Whiz that got Ozzy banned from San Antonio for over a decade. The legend has it that he relieved himself on the one thing that every San Antonio resident can agree is supremely cherish-able... The Alamo. The ambiguity comes in as to where exactly he did it...
All Right, All Right … Happy Birthday Dennis.
Many of you STYX fans have heard me say that I am not a big Dennis DeYoung fan. I'm not. While I acknowledge that he wrote most of the band's big hits and therefore deserves some respect, I didn't like most of those songs, opting to listen to the STYX "Rockers" instead...
Calling All “Seasoned” Rockers !
Last night, with a few friends and a few beers, I was embroiled in a deep conversation about Quad City live music venues and it made me want to play "ask the audience" about one of them in particular... The Col Ballroom.
I personally have had some of my most awesome concert experiences at the Col...
Who Would You Like Most To Meet?
If you could spend a couple hours with, and get to know or share a drink with any of these people ... which one would you choose?
Burt Reynolds, Sheryl Crow, Sarah Palin, Jeb Bush, Jennifer Aniston, or Tina Louise ("Ginger") ..... easy choice...
Try Not To Laugh … I Dare ‘Ya !
Here's another funny skit from Jimmy Kimmel ... have a little "afternoon" laugh today!
Grading The Super Bowl
I know you didn't ASK for my
opinion, but this is the day that everybody gets to say what they thought of yesterday's game and other features. So I'll give my report card too!
National Anthem: "B" Not as bad as I thought it was gonna be, Lady Gaga surprised me...
