The Year Of The “Blown Lead”
This year, the NCAA tournament has been all-in-all one of the more exciting ones. Powerhouse teams dropping out early, new "Cinderellas" and lots of overtime classics... and blown leads! Most of them have come in the second half, but there have been some notable large blown leads in first half action too...
March “Beer” Madness Finals!
Last week I began the "hypothetical" march madness of local breweries with a 4 "team" tournament. Blue Cat vs. Great River - and - Green Tree vs.Bent River. Well it's on to the finals now!
The 2 that are advancing to the hypothetical tournament breweries FINALS are:
Bent River of Moline and Great River of Davenport...
March “Beer” Madness?
I will openly admit that I'm not a big Craft Beer kind-of guy ... but I do know that the local breweries and their signature beers are VERY popular here in the QCA. So I was thinkin' ... what if we had a tournament? Who would win ?
Say we had the #4 seed GREEN TREE in LeClaire take on the #1 seed BENT RIVER in Moline ...
Hey Adam LaRoche, Stay Gone !
Today Adam LaRoche retired from the White Sox because they told him to limit, not eliminate, but limit the amount of time his son spends with the team at training camp this Spring. Well Adam, if it was that easy to walk away, why didn't you just retire over the winter instead of dragging your teammates and the organization through the mud like you have over this issue...
QC Rock Academy … Take A Bow!
Among all the options to engage your time this weekend, my favorite may have been the young performers from the QC Rock Academy who played showcase sets in the tent at Kelly's on Friday night. All of these teenage musicians were impressive, and some were flat-out AMAZING...
This Is The Year For The Big 10 !!
Let the tournament begin .... and watch out America, this may be the year for a Big 10 Champion!! There's more parity in college basketball this year than in any year that I can remember. Pretty much any team could beat any other team, on any given day...
Brad Delp’s Last Song
Today is the anniversary of Brad Delp of Boston's carbon monoxide poisoning suicide back in 2007. This is the last song he ever recorded, a duet with fellow band mate Barry Goodreau. Go ahead and check it out right here.
This is Not Gonna Be A Good Birthday
Well, it's Randy Meisner's 70th birthday today. Happy Birthday to Randy, but I really feel for him today because he's mourning the loss of his wife of 20 years. Lana Meisner was moving a rifle, covered by a soft-cloth case in a closet. It accidentally discharged, shooting her in the head...
Wow! Forgot How Hot Shania Was!
I was loo king for something else when I stumbled across this video ... check it out, it's worth the 2-and-a-half-minute wait until she comes out. Shania is still hot!
Remembering Ronnie
I was always a big Montrose fan, and a big fan of Ronnie Montrose's solo stuff too. The Sammy Hagar and Denny Carmassi days were the best for me, but I'll take any of his music anytime. Sadly Ronnie lost his 5-year battle with prostate cancer on this day 4 years ago...
