Today was the day in London, 1966, that Jimi Hendrix and his "Experience" bandmates went in to the studio for the first time to record.   And so it begins ......

Two months later the song "Hey Joe" was released, and that began the Hendrix Experience.  At least 40 or 50 other people had recorded that song already, some were semi-successful ..  and even this one from Jimi didn't do well in the U.S. the first time it was released.  But after the states got a good look at him, and became more comfortable with him, they released it again and it did better.  No matter ... the Hendrix-craze was underway.  Oh, and that song was the final song he played at Woodstock.

So the next time you hear "Hey Joe" .. even if you've heard it 1000 times before .. take your hat off and give a moment to Jimi.  Because I can't imagine "Rock" history without him...can you?
