Did you also know that in 1969 he was the highest-paid rock musician?  Did you know that before his legendary performance at Woodstock of the Star-Spangled Banner he had been awake for almost 3 days?  Some have called that performance one of the "Greatest Moments of the Sixties".   He changed his slot to the Monday Morning of the festival, and instead of 300,000 or 400,000 people seeing it, it was more like 30,000 or 40,000 which suited him better.   I gotta salute you today Jimi Hendrix fans... for just having a four year mainstream career ...  he was one of the best!
