99-Year-Old Won a Shopping Spree, Bought Presents for Underprivileged Kids
'99-Cent Only Stores' recently ran a cool contest where someone who turned 99 this year could win a shopping spree at one of their dollar stores, and fill a cart with stuff.
Donna Goldstein of Los Angeles won it. the shopping spree happened last Thursday in L.A. She had one hour to shop, but she's 99, so she had two other people helping her. Even though her birthday was back in October, they also got her a cake and threw a party.
She ended up with about $160 worth of stuff, which is what a full shopping cart costs at the dollar store apparently. Everything she bought was either a toy, or something kid-friendly. She's taking all of the stuff she got, putting it in Christmas stockings, and donating them to underprivileged kids.
She says she actually does the stocking thing every year, and also donates at Thanksgiving. Usually she's the one who has to pay for it.
