5 Exotic Cars That Cost As Much As A Nissan Maxima
New sedans are boring and expensive. A new Nissan Maxima, once self-proclaimed a "four-door sports car," with all the trimmings tops out around $36,000.
But what other kinds of actual pedigreed, exotic sports cars can you get for $36,000?
If you look at the numbers, some aren't as powerful as said Maxima and they probably don't come with half of the bells and whistles, but that Maxima doesn't come with a prancing horse emblem or an engine sound that will bring on early on-sets of various mid-life crises.
1980 Ferrari 308 GTSI
The 308 was the replacement for the Dino 246, and was one of the least baller-est Ferrari's of the time. Regardless, they were highly popular and ushered in a new era for Ferrari style. They were quite visible in 80's pop culture and are rumored to be able to run on a mixture of cosmopolitans and cocaine. This particular car is currently being offered for $35,800.
2000 Lotus Esprit Turbo
The Lotus Esprit was one of those exotics that flew under the radar, but was catapulted to stardom as the car of which Julia Roberts attempted to murder the clutch in "Pretty Woman." Twin-turbocharged, a classic English styled interior, and one of the prettier wedge-inspired exotics makes the Esprit still relevant today. $35,750 puts the keys to this lovely lady in your hands.
2002 Porsche 911 Turbo
The 911 is timeless. It's another one of those cars that will always look expensive. This body style incorporated the first water-cooled motor, which some critics said "attempted to fight the laws of physics." They hustled to 60 in under 4 seconds, and literally screamed for you to pay them attention. This particular car has been involved in a minor accident, but is priced at $30,000.
1997 Dodge Viper GTS
Not often considered an exotic, the general rarity of the Viper does make it a head-turner. It's also incredibly raw and powerful. If you make a mistake in this car, it will kill you. The 8.0 liter V10 has sent many an underprivileged trust-fund kid into unsuspecting ditches. This particular car is supercharged and nitrous ready, making it even more lethal. Walk away with this one for $35,000. Walking away FROM this car might save your life.
2008 Maserati Quattroporte Executive GT
Probably the most refined and family friendly exotic on this list, the Quattroporte is the Ferrari Sedan Ferrari never built. An earful of this car above 5000 rpm will turn the Maxima's 4-door sports car claim into a cute comment your 4 year-old makes about how fast he can run. With rich interior amenities that include seat massagers, wooden rear tables, suede everywhere, and rear window curtain shades, the Quattroporte makes you feel way more important than you probably are. For $33,500, you can make the neighbors think you've secretly won the lottery.
