Judge Takes on Attorney

A judge in Florida got into an argument with an attorney in his courtroom on Monday and it got so heated he suggested they take it outside.

John Murphy is a judge in Brevard County, Florida. He was in the courtroom on Monday and a public defender named Andrew Weinstock was there for a hearing.

Murphy wanted the client to waive his right to a speedy trial for an assault charge. But Weinstock wouldn't do it.

So the two of them started arguing, it got heated and the judge eventually suggested they take it outside.

They went into the hallway, and apparently the judge grabbed the lawyer and punched him in the head. Deputies broke up the fight. The courtroom argument was all caught on video, but unfortunately the fight in the hallway wasn't.

Weinstock isn't going to press charges and he won't be presenting cases to Murphy anymore.
