Tesla is the first of 2 nights of rock to play the Grandstand next summer at the Mississippi Valley Fair, according to Fair Manager Shawn Loter. Tesla will play Friday, August 2nd. The other rock act remains a mystery.

Ask Shawn Loter what the biggest challenge is when it comes to the 100th Anniversary of the Mississippi Valley Fair this summer, and you might hear that finding the right combination of popular bands can be tricky.

But that's as close to a complaint as you'll hear from the 2nd year General Manager, now in his 29th year involved with the fairgrounds he calls "Home."  That's because as he worked his way up from parking cars that summer of 1989, to parking in the GM's parking place for the first time last year, he hasn't yet met a challenge he couldn't overcome.

Bands are expensive, and sometimes difficult to work with. And there's the Fair Board who have to approve expenses.  So when Loter today announced the first 4 bands appearing at the fair this summer, he knows he's bringing the best line-up to the best fair in the Midwest.  In addition to Tesla on Friday Night, Brad Paisley will close the Fair on Sunday.  Two  more big nights are to be announced.

Dec 3rd Fun cards will be available at the Fair Office.
